PRACTICAL SKILL MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
Furniture know-how.
Proper packing judgement.
HandyTackle is built around hands-on packing and furniture experience, including training removals staff. That experience shapes how we assess the work, organise components and plan the visit.
Packing is more than filling a box.
Fragile packing involves choosing protection for the item, wrapping vulnerable surfaces and arranging the contents to limit movement. The box, padding and weight need to suit what is inside.
Tell us about antiques, valuable or unusual belongings before requesting the work. Specialist items need individual assessment and an agreed packing method; a standard household package is not a promise to pack every specialist item.
Correct take-down. Careful rebuilding.
A wardrobe’s fixings, joints and condition matter. Knowing how the furniture is constructed helps determine what can safely come apart and what needs attention before rebuilding.
Removed components and fixings need to stay together. Lost cam locks, damaged connectors and forced joints can turn a moving task into a furniture problem. Share model details and existing damage so the work can be assessed.
Identify the part before replacing it.
Replacement fixings need to match the furniture. Model numbers, assembly diagrams and manufacturer part codes help identify what is missing, rather than relying on an unsuitable screw or connector.
Send photos of missing parts or previous assembly problems. We can review what is needed before agreeing the job. Replacement components or repair work require separate agreement; availability and suitability affect what can be completed.
COMPARE THE ACTUAL SERVICE
Which arrangement
fits your job?
Compare how the provider protects fragile belongings, keeps furniture parts organised and handles rebuilding. Ask for relevant experience and genuine work examples. A dedicated visit is particularly useful when the job needs furniture knowledge or packing judgement alongside the moving arrangements.
BEFORE ACCEPTING A PRICE
Ask the questions
that change the job.
The detail matters more than whether a service is called an “extra”.
Furniture assembly and disassembly
- Does the price cover the complete model, including frames, doors, drawers and fittings?
- Are dismantling and rebuilding both included, and at which addresses?
- What happens if parts are missing or the furniture is unsuitable for dismantling?
- Can the person identify the correct replacement fittings and assess previous assembly problems?
- Who will handle any wall restraints required by the manufacturer?
House move packing and unpacking
- What practical experience does the person have with the belongings you need packed?
- Is this a full pack or fragile-only help, and what workload is covered?
- Are boxes, wrapping and other materials included or priced separately?
- Does unpacking mean emptying boxes onto surfaces or putting belongings away?
- Are cleaning, empty-box disposal or transport included?
LET YOUR MOVERS HANDLE THE MOVE
A simple plan
around your transport.
- Before collection: agree the packing and any suitable furniture disassembly.
- On moving day: your transport provider handles the agreed movement of belongings.
- After arrival: arrange assembly and unpacking once the furniture and boxes are at the destination.
When using two providers, agree each one’s tasks, dates and handover. Keep the job details and existing condition clear, including who to contact if something needs attention.
HandyTackle is based in Maghull, serving nearby Merseyside areas and Ormskirk. Coverage is checked by the actual postcode and driving route.
Sending a request does not reserve a date. We review the work and availability before confirming your visit.

The National Occupational Standards for packing include identifying fragile items, selecting suitable materials and protecting them during packing. IKEA’s spare-parts guidance shows how model-specific fittings can be identified from assembly instructions.
Flat Pack Yorkshire publicly describes providing dismantling and rebuilding for removals companies. This is an example of furniture specialists working alongside movers; it is that business’s account of its service.
Removals-industry training is available, but course availability alone does not establish what training an individual crew member has completed. Ask about the person doing your job.
